Maria del Mar arrives to Barcelona in 1967 and begins to sing with "Els Setze Jutges", an important Group of Catalan songwriters. Then she makes her several performances and records her First EP with four folksongs from Menorca.

The following year, the censorship of Franco's regime forbids to sing one of her more popular songs "Què volen aquesta gent". At the beginning of the 70's she initiates her first performances abroad: France, Denmark and England. Throughout her career, Maria del Mar will visit Switzerland, Venezuela, Mexico, Portugal, Italy, Sweden, Germany, Greece, Tunisia, Holland, Belgium, the old Soviet Union and Japan.

In 1971, a LP where appears the songs "L'Aguila negra" and "No voldria res més ara" reaches the Golden Record in Spain.

In 1981 she records his CD "Jardí Tancat", in Paris, with the musical arrangements of Jacques Denjean and the collaboration of Alan Stivell. The lyrics of this CD are based on the works of Mallorcan poets of principles of the XX century. Nacho Duato has created other choreographs with Music of the author and singer like "Jardí Tancat" (First Choreographic Prize of Colony, Germany). That same year MARIA DEL MAR BONET presents in the "Teatre Lliure" of Barcelona the Show "Ben a Prop" where she plays, only accompanied with the pianist Manel Camp, interpreting songs of Gershwin, Rolling Stones and Toti Soler, among others.

Maria del Mar presents her CD in several concerts around the country: Buenos Aires, Río de la Plata and Panama. Later on, she goes to Chile to participate in a tribute concert "Con Allende siempre".

In October she tours around Morocco in five concerts: Rabat, Casablanca, Fez, Tánger and Tetuan. This tour, organised by the "Instituto Cervantes", approaches Maria del Mar Bonet to a reality that she has always perceived long before that World Music became fashionable.

MARIA DEL MAR BONET has had even time to record her new recording "Cavall de Foc" (published by PICAP), that was released on January of 1999. This last work of Maria del Mar gathers traditional songs of Catalunya, Balearic islands and Valencia that she has always liked and sings full of passion.
